Maggie's Shrimp: A Brace from Park

My good friend, Dee Fisheries Development Officer Ken Reid, landed these two perfect Dee Springers, estimated at 15lb and 12lb, on a 1" Maggie's Shrimp copper tube from Park.
Both fish came from the Durris Stream and epitomise the magic of spring fishing on the Dee.

Sunray Shadow

THE SUNRAY SHADOW is well established as a go to pattern for the Dee and elsewhere in April and May.

Gold Willie Gunn

THE GOLD WILLIE GUNN is a favourite of a great many anglers and who could blame them. Its the quintessential Scottish Spring fly.

Black and Chartreuse

THE BLACK AND CHARTREUSE tube is a variation on the classic Dee tube, the Black and Yellow. I have also added a little holographic angel hair to give it something extra.

Silver Wilkinson Shrimp

This is my version of the classic Irish shrimp. A good fly for fresh fish on bright days.

The Black Shrimp

THE BLACK SHRIMP is an all time classic Scottish Shrimp fly. It dates from the 60s and has a great affinity with its home river, the Ness. The story of John Cathcart's fly and the original dressing are on the Inverness Angling Club site.

Maggie's Shrimp

MAGGIE'S SHRIMP is from the same family as the Mairi's Shrimp and Park Shrimp. It is a new fly and has one or two Dee salmon to its credit. Perhaps a few more will be added in 2008.
I have just heard that my friend Ken Reid has had a brace of springers on a 1" Maggie's Shrimp tube from Park, River Dee.
