Both fish came from the Durris Stream and epitomise the magic of spring fishing on the Dee.

The Black Shrimp
Maggie's Shrimp
MAGGIE'S SHRIMP is from the same family as the Mairi's Shrimp and Park Shrimp. It is a new fly and has one or two Dee salmon to its credit. Perhaps a few more will be added in 2008.
I have just heard that my friend Ken Reid has had a brace of springers on a 1" Maggie's Shrimp tube from Park, River Dee.

Mairi's Shrimp
MAIRI'S SHRIMP is originally a Thurso fly which excels in peat stained rivers and also in clear water at dusk.
I first tied it for my father several years ago and it has since accounted for scores of Thurso salmon. Over the years it has taken fish all over the north of Scotland, Russia, Ireland England and Wales.

The Park Shrimp
THE PARK SHRIMP started life on the famous Park beat of the River Dee and has since had a short yet spectacular career on rivers in Scotland and Ireland.
It is basically a Willie Gunn tied in the Cascade style, but with several enhancements. I use a dubbed body to enhance the profile and Arctic Runner extra mobility and Angel Hair for a little glint as the fly pulses in the stream.
My favourite is a 3/4" tube, and size 9 & 11 salars. It is a must have addition to any fly box.
